The story
1 min readClimb Michelangelo's cordonata ramp into the first modern civic square (1536). The bronze Marcus Aurelius survived the Middle Ages only because it was mistaken for Christian Constantine.
Inside: the Capitoline She-Wolf, the colossal head and hand of Constantine, the Dying Gaul, and the Tabularium gallery, Rome's ancient records office, whose arcades frame the entire Forum from above: the best single view in the city, with a coffee terrace.
